was hoping to get some help with finding out why im getting such low fps in games like BF3

when i try running the cards in cf im still only getting 45-70 fps in single player. was thinking it would be alot higher from what ive seen from other people getting 100+

i tried disabling cf and just running one card and im still getting 45-50 fps.

drivers are the pre cert 12.2

any ideas or help would be very helpful

What's your cpu? Maybe it's a bottleneck.

And I'm pretty sure I've also heard lots of issues with the drivers in CF.

Have you tried each of the cards alone? If they both work fine then it's most likely a driver issue.

Just as a note 7970's drivers are still completely crap at the moment, until AMD releases a finalized version of drivers for the 7970's there are going to be issues with stability and performance.

I myself cannot run the 12.2 pre-cert drivers as the it causes a BSOD if the PC sits idle for a while, but does give me better FPS then the RC11 drivers , but the RC11 drivers are the most stable.

Resolution is also a big factor when it comes to FPS. What were these other peoples resolutions, and what is yours? Do you have v-sync on that can lower FPS a lot. Do you have high levels of AA? Many people will use ultra without AA. A lot of people mislead you on their settings, by saying they play at ultra without letting you know they turn down a few settings after starting at Ultra.

Based on these reviews, you might not be getting CF scaling: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-7970-benc...

I've also heard that Hyper-threading has given BF3 some issues. You might want to turn of Hyper-threading in the bios. Also, you may need to install the CAP profiles for crossfire while you are at it.

all good ideas that i will have to look into.

i did pull the cards out and try running them by themselves just on WoW and both cards were sitting at 90-95 fps with no issues so it very well may just be a driver issue at this very moment.

one of the videos that i watched about it had AA on and everything on ultra getting 110 fps so maybe just good luck with drivers?

is 55-70 fps in sp and multi considered low with ultra settings, AA and everything turned all the way up?

Well it definitely isn't low, but it should be way higher than that since you are using 2.

Are you playing at 2500 x 1600?

install the previous one if it's not going up and wait for newer driver.. .This is more like the problem Nvidia having with other or some video cards and people are even complaining of FPS drop or other problems and some even got more FPS increase after installing the previous driver...

Do you also have the Crossfire Application Profiles (CAP) installed?
