My PC is dated (prolly 6 years old now) and I want to get at least 1-2 more years out of it before i get a new one. I want to know what Graphics Cards would be an upgrade and compatible with my specs. I mainly want to play Rift,Guild Wars 2,and Tera. I dont want to spend any more than $175

Motherboard: Asus Striker Extreme
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 2.4
Memory: 4gb ddr2
PSU: Antec Earth Watts EA 500D
Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB
OS: Win 7 Home Premium 64

I am ashamed to admit i still play on an old Dell E773c Monitor, could you also suggest some good gaming monitors? budget would be $150-$300.

TY :)

More about : upgrading pls

The first thing you are going to want to do is overclock that processor to at least 3ghz, preferably higher if you can. For the card an HD6870 is what you want for that kind of money.

+1 to this.

Your CPU would bottleneck a bit without a overclock

Get a good CPU cooler, overclock that CPU then get something like

hmmm I have never messed with built in GPUs on desktops personally. I believe the PCIe Would just run instead of the integrated. Maybe someone can confirm this.

you're playing on a dated machine with a 17" crt monitor. If the card you have now works I wouldn't waste any money.

if the card is bad a 5670 would be the most I'd spend. Put the rest towards your future build.

The 5670 is not much faster than your current card.

Because when overclocked the processor is still adequate for the large majority of current games.

I wish Guild Wars 2 had their specs but it will be at least 3 more months (limited budget but still time to save from when it does come out) ,cause mainly that is what I want this machine to play. I am thinking of getting a new monitor for my next machine soon, and get rid of my current monitor. I would be happy to be able to play it on high or very high, but all i have is this to go on

Like i said,my budget is pretty limited until next year

Give overclocking the CPU a go and tell us your results.
