Hello,
I'm trying to connect a flat-mate's computer to a wireless network. He's using a 802.11b Wireless USB adapter on his Windows ME machine and his LAN settings has a manual IP address of 192.168.0.4, a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and a gateway of the router 192.168.0.1. His network is set to Windows Logon and no TCP settings other than the adapter are present. I've gone to Internet Options--> Connections --> Internet Setup and chosen 'I want to connect to the internet manually through a LAN connection' (or something like that. I wish I knew what settings that wizard actually changed).
His computer still isn't connecting to the internet and an error message 'No Wireless Card detected' is appearing, even though the latest drivers for it for ME are installed, the wireless status monitor shows an excellent connection and the card is working fine in the Device Manager. ActionTec 802.11b support pages say to disconnect the adapter and re-plug it again, but this doesn't not fix it.
I'd appreciate any advice you can give.
