Gaming rigs - Help needed before purchase

Hey guys, hopefully someone here can help me make my mind up. Im building myself a gaming/everyday use rig and im torn between what CPU to use, i originally picked just the i5 2400 with an Asrock H77 board as my budget isnt that big. I then switched over to an i5 2500K with a Asrock Z77 PRO4-M to allow for overclocking. But my question is, is the extra im spending really worth it?.

CPU - i5 2500K
Mobo - Asrock Z77 PRO4-M
RAM - 2x4GB Corsair Vengence
GPU - Asus HD 7850

HDD - Seagate 1TB 7200rpm
PSU - Corsair CX600 v2
CPU Cooler - Hyper 212

My original build just swapped for the i5 2400 and the mobo to the H77 and dropped the Hyper 212 altogether.

  1. Yes! if you OC there will be a difference in performance.
  2. You don't need to overclock even with TWO 7850's. The stock speed of i5-2400 is plenty fast enough.
  3. geekapproved is correct, the i5-2400 is plenty of speed. But why not get a 3rd gen i5 rather than a 2nd gen? The cost difference is minimal.
