Monitor goes off while playing games

Hi!
Recently my monitor goes off and my computer still continues to work (i can hear game sounds) .This has happened to me only while playing games.
My specs
CPU-i3 2100
GPU-ATI radeon HD 5770(XFX)
PSU-A local company with 500w written on it

if i restart my pc i can hear my GPU/CPU fan running at 100%(by sound diffrence)
I know MY PSU sucks i just want to clarify that its my PSU's problem
i have heard rumors that it might be problems of GPU's made by xfx
PLS help me clarify my doubt

it could be the PSU if can really deliver 500W some PSU boast that it has 500W but really its like 380w cheaper PSU do this i cannot confirm ifs your PSU due to not knowing what the make and model is but could be a issue
other wise if you got a another PCIE slot change slots and see if it happens and try updateing to latest Drivers

I dont have another PCIe slot and i am using catalyst suite 11.12
