part of me wants to say that at a 400$ range, a prebuilt computer would fit the need better.

I know this has one less core, but for most things this is much better

Even with oc and unlocking the 4th core ? It is 50$ more (i don't need a dvd burner).

They perform similar, but the more important thing is that you can upgrade to an i5 in a few years which beats anything AMD can offer.

Is it a guarantee that you can unlock the 4th core? Nope.

Hum ...

Why can't I oc the i3 ? Motherboard restriction ? What kind of motherboard (chipset) should I buy if want to oc ?

What about the Pentium G630 (oc, price, performances) ?

You can only overclock K-series such as i5 2500K/3570K due to them having unlocked multiplier. Unlike 1st generation i3/i5/i7, 2nd and 3rd generation can't be overclocked via BCLK.

Edit: Forgot to mention, if you plan on upgrading to i5/i7 ####K in the future, H61 won't let you overclock. I'd recommend getting cheapest Z75 board you can find to have the ability to upgrade in the future.

I would go with a z68 if you want to overclock in the future, but it would put you above your price limit. Pentium will do about as well as an I3 for lightly threaded things, but for threaded programs, the I3 has a lead because of hyper-threading. For a processing chart go here

Will SATA II be a bottleneck for the Agility 3 ?

Will it be a big bottleneck that I can see in real condition or just on benchmarks ? SATA3 is hard to find on budget MB.

What's the problem with SATA III on H61 ?

It is just that h61 is budget and sata III is not on board. You might want an H67 or H77 if you want more options with sata III. The main time you will notice a bottleneck is during start up.

there are H61 boards with SATA III/USB 3 connectors, ASRock, Gigabyte, and MSI all make them

there are h61's with sata III and usb 3. The reason to look at H67 and H77 is that for a little more, you get these features on board.

I can have this used Asus desktop for 200$ :
Q8200, Quatro FX 570, 8 Go DDR3, 300GB + 500GB.
Is it a good deal ?

not bad. the Q8200 is going to bottleneck the 570 a bit, though

EDIT: oh, wait thats a QUATTRO 570, not GTX 570, its a 128-bit, DDR2, 256MB video card.

overall, that would be a great system, 5 years ago.

now its barely adequate
