Hello,
My name is Angel, and i am having some trouble trying to decide what card is best for my computer. I have a Gateway 6850-51U with an Nvidia 440 1.5GB Card in it already. I would like to know which card would be more suitable between the N560GTX TI TWIN FROZR II 2GD5 OC, or the MSI ATI Radeon R6970 LIGHTNING. I understand i need a better Power Supply which i'm working on getting this one from Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/130545265656?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 I don't know too much about it but it's the only one i can afford right now. Please help me? Thanks. :)

When will you be ordering? Some more of 7000 series cards should come out in March. Also, the GTX 600 series cards are supposed to come out in April. If you can wait, then I'd see how those perform. But to answer your question, the 6970 is better than the 560 Ti. And for that PSU, do you know who manufactured it?

Even overclocked, I don't think the gtx 560 ti is comparable to the 6970. You might be better off spending the same amount of cash on a quality lower powered PSU than that one. I paid $199 on a 1200w and it is at the low end of the quality scale. I can only imagine what kind of headaches you will get from a $55 dollar 1000W PSU.

First off, I wouldn't trust that power supply at all. Spend more on a quality power supply and less on a graphics card if you have to. If the power supply goes, it could take the rest of your (rather nice) system with it.

Figure out your budget for both a graphics card and power supply. Then look for a quality power supply from a manufacturer like Antec, Corsair, PC Power and Cooling, or Seasonic. Look for something in the range of 550-750 watts. See how much that costs and then get the best graphics card you can based on what's left of your budget.

Thanks for the reply! I had actually won this one last night:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/110834142336?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

But i'm trying to get out of it because i don't think that thing is going to fit in my system. He said it's 8.5 inches long X__X The reason i asked about the Graphics Cards is because i'm hearing fuss over ATI. Though i can see it's better but they say Nvidia is this and that and worth every penny. lol

LOL Thanks for the save. Okay i won't buy that Power Supply then. I don't know tooo much about the Graphics Cards and how they work. I know you'd ask me to do alot of reading to understand it all. The guy was asking abit more for the ATI than the Nvidia but i just wasn't sure if it was worth it. I'd have to wait just a tad longer to have both, the card and a GOOD Power Supply. I'm still alittle low on the budget to afford em both and if you say the ATI is better then... Well i'll get that then. Also, as for new cards coming out and waiting, i wouldn't know what the price ranges on those would be. lol

You shouldn't focus too much on the 2GB memory factor.. What are you using this GPU for anyways? And if you are going to spend that much on a GPU you might want to invest in a stable power supply.. An actual brand would be a nice start, the one you are getting off eBay doesn't even have a name.. Try Antec, Corsair, Thermaltake, PC power & cooling & OCZ..

To Kohlhagen:
Yeah that's kinda scary. Haha. Darn those Third-Parties.. x3. I want to Play Sims 3. I know i can now, but the game keeps lagging on me when i build my house 'too big' plus i can't slide all of it's features to maximum in the options. I'm stuck like... In the middle settings.

I mean that's not the ONLY reason why i want to upgrade my card of course, i've looked at the comparison on some sites against a Nvidia 440 GT. I was blown away, i just wanna upgrade to get up there better like everyone else. :p

I also enjoy playing The Sims 3. my rig has an i5 2500K and a AMD Radeon HD6850 and it works very well. i have all the settings at max. only downside is the latest AMD drivers don't work well with edge smoothing in the game, trees and bushes look like big green boxes with leaves cut out. i would still recommend that card or higher, you can always install the previous drivers.

anyway, that power supply is weak. PC Power and Cooling is a reliable brand for a great price, and it's modular.

newegg doesn't seem to have any HD6900 cards in stock at this time. but the HD7950 is much better.

however, the HD6870 should play Sims 3 like butter.

So i DON'T need as much power as i thought i did? I thought these cards needed like...500 - 650 and up Watts to run. WOW! That card for 500 is beautiful O__O I've been sitting here looking and looking for a Power Supply but, i can't do anything til April to even make a move on just the Video Card. I'm still glad i came and asked for advice early though.

I bought it cause it was brand new factory sealed and all the others ones were expensive. I thought i did a good buy? I bailed from my last PSU on Ebay because i had people telling me it wasn't good either. It was a Dell 1000 Watt.

It wasn't the worst buy I would say, but for $175 you could've got a MUCH better PSU!!!

If you want, read this review about the PSU you just bought: http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/ultrax41050w/

I have looked at the link. I'm still impressed with the purchase and i also seen a video review on Youtube with this thing along with other watt sizes. The only thing that's kinda bothering me right now, is that guy's feedback i bought it from.
