I;m upgrading my PC this summer. I am going to go with the gtx 690, or should I just go with gtx 680. If I go with gtx 680 then I could spend the 500 dollars on better ram, case, ssd. If I get gtx 680, then will I still be able to play games like crysis at maximum settings at 45 fps+?

If you play with ONE monitor, then GTX 690 is overkill. The GTX 680 will play any game in super duper ultra max settings (or whatever you wanna call it).

The SSD is the best thing you can get for those $500. Not even a Core i7 Extreme is a better upgrade than SSD. Crucial M4 or OCZ Vertex 4 are great SSD drives.

it would help if you could give your specs; cpu, mobo, ram, and what resolution you want to play at.

Only way you need a 690 is if you run 3d surround. Oh i want that!!!!!

Was that even a question or were u just kidding? Crysis will run just fine on 680, and even Crysis 2 will run fine with 680 even with the DX11 patch(the game was a console port so they didn't max out graphics and improved their engine). I also bet Crysis 3 will run fine(30fps+) on 680 since it is also going to be console port.

It is better that u spend that money on other pc components unless you are super rich like bill gates. ;)

@ 1920x1080 the 680 will max out every game out. If you are going higher resolutions and or multiple screens you will need more.
