SLI or Crossfire: No idea what this means to be honest

Monitor Resolution: 1176x664(no i cannot change please do not ask me to buy an hd monitor :-/)

Additional Comments: I just need to know if these parts work and finding a graphics card, all of this is so overwhelming for me.

Why do you want to use AMD? If you are doing gaming and schoolwork, you will never use more than 4 threads, and an I5 would serve you better. Here are some suggested changes.

I was just planning on using it because I've had a few friends/relatives who built PC's suggest it too me, but i can be flexible on it

CF/SLI means you run 2 or more AMD/NVIDIA GPUs. I would try to fit in a Radeon 7850 into your build along with an i5-3570k/2500k and a CF/SLI MOBO if you want to CF/SLI.

Sorry. I made a mistake and thought this was an $800 dollar build. Get the 7870
