Choices of motherboard, RAM and CPU

Hello guys!

I am currently interrested in upgrading my system so it can run, especially games like Diablo 3 smoothly on high settings. So far my system contains:

GPU: Gefore GTX460
SSD: 128GB Crucial M4
HDD: 750GB Samsung
PSU: 500W
OS: 64-bit W7 Professional (I'm not even entirely sure my CPU is 64-bit compatible)

I won't go into what CPU, Motherboard or RAM i have, because they are all very old and i already know that they are the bottlenecks in my system. Since the motherboard is rather old i dont see much point in trying to hunt down a slightly older processor plus RAM that fits it's DDR2 ports, so instead I'll just upgrade all three of them together.

I was looking around a bit and was thinking
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I also stumbled upon this offer:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0064ZSRVO/ref=s9_si...

The price for the bundle is way lower, but I'm not sure if 8GB ram is enough, and if the Gigabyte motherboard might be slightly better, so my question to you guys is, what would you do if you were in my position?

And lastly, is my 500W PSU strong enough to deal with a system like this?

Thansk in advance, Jesper

You should have mentioned your cpu, seems your system is already capable of playing Diablo 3 just fine.

You also failed to mention your monitors resolution, which makes all the difference.

Oh and the FX4100 is the worst possible cpu you could choose for gaming. You would be much better off with a i3-2120 or X4 965.

Thanks for the response :)

My screen runs at 1920x1080 resolution
I have an Intel E2180 Dual-Core 2.00 GHz and 4GB DDR2 RAM.
Even though i run 64-bit OS, it says that my system can only use 3.25GB, is it becuase of the CPU not being 64-bit compatible or is the last 0.75GB saved for something else by Windows?

If you have a 64bit os you should have no problem using 4gb of ram. Your cpu is 64bit.

At that resolution you definitely need a cpu upgrade, but your video card should be strong enough, although the current cpu is holding it back.

So you were considering spending $370 on that setup you linked, try this instead:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

=$290

That leaves $80 for 8GB (2x4GB) of DDR3-1600, which if you look you can find for around $30 regularly. You don't need 16GB cause 8GB is already overkill.

This will be 5x as fast as that setup you were thinking about.

I'd suggest taking that $50 in savings (plus about $20 more) and buying yourself a decent psu.
