Hello everyone,

I have an Asus p6t se and just upgraded the video card to an inno 3d gtx 570 but it wont boot, just gives 1 long and 3 short beeps. I swapped out the video card with my old one and it boots fine. I'm wondering if it's a power issue. On my Inno 3d gtx 570 are 6 power pins and 8 power pins, The box came with a converter for the 6 pins but not the 8 and I'm wondering if I need both.
Any light you could shed would be appreciated.

Thanks

Is it the mobo or the vid card beeping? Either way check the manual to see exactly what the beeps mean. U need to hook up both power connectors. Dunno if they make 8 pin adapters, but u'd need to make sure u connect it to an unused power rail. Please tell us what power supply unit u r using so others can help.

It's the motherboard beep, pretty sure it means video card problem
The psu is coolermaster 500w.
Thanks

It does for maximum OC.

The minimum PSU for GTX570 is 550W. For example: the PSU Corsair VX550W has 41A on the 12V rails.

For a GTX570 card with 6 pins + 8 pins power connectors like the Asus GTX570 DCII:
The GTX570 no OC uses maximum wattage of 219W with means 18.25A (=3x75W feeds: slot, 6pin, 6pin) needed for it only on the PSU's 12V rails.
GTX570 max OC power consumption is 394W - compared to 340W - needs 4A more on the 12V rails - this till be taken from the 8 pin.
So if you intend to fully OC the card you will need a PSU 600-650W area.

Maximum power consumption of GTX570 DCII taken from here:

Yes, but I ment to show that the Furmark maxes out the card's power consumption when it is not OCed (at 3x75W) and by OCing it to maximum and running Furmark the card consumes 54W more (394-340=54) that is 4.5A more that will have to be drawn by the "third" 6 pin power connector that is inside the 8 pin.
Here is a benchmark that shows the power comsumption of the GTX570 only with Furmark:

Right, I got an arctic 700wt psu today and still no joy.
I get one long beep followed by 3 short beeps, then I get one beep as if it's going to boot then nothing.
I've tried one 6 pin power and two 6-pin power cables in (one of them in the 8-pin socket)and no screen.

Anybody got any ideas cos it's doing me head in big time?

How many Amps are there in the +12V rails?
How many 6-pin connectors does this PSU have?
If it has only two, use the converter you mentioned before to make a 6-pin connector from two 4-pin molex connector, then get a two 6-pin to one 8-pin converter and use that so you will have one 6-pin connector and one 8-pin connector and than the card should work (if the PSU got more than 35A combined on the +12V rails).

If that can be of any help...

Same problem here (long beep followed by two short, blank screen), and pretty sure it's not PSU, I have a Corsair 850W.

The GPU has 8pin and 6pin connectors. For the 8pins, I tried both 'direct' 8pins from PSU (in fact, 6 + 2 pins) and the fork 2x6pins from PSU -> 8pins to GPU.

My previous GPU still works fine (GTS250).

Also, the 570 actually worked for a short time, long enough for me to install new drivers.

Up to now I suspected a bad PCIe connector (card defect) but since other people (you) have had the same trouble, I guess it's probably my outdated motherboard.
