$1200-$1500 New Build (multi-use)

Looking to build this as soon as possible. I researched most of these parts in March and left them in my Newegg wishlist until I got the money together to make the purchase. I want to make sure everything is compatible and there isn't anything that I'm overspending on unnecessarily. Or something new that came out recently that might be a better choice. Any assistance/advice is very much appreciated. Thank you!

Approximate Purchase Date: Next week, as soon as possible.

Budget Range: $1200 - $1500 / After Rebates (not including monitor)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: All three equally important... Gaming, Photography/Graphic Editing, and Music Notation software (Sibelius/Garageband).

Parts Not Required: Mouse, Keyboard, Speakers, Operating system

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg, Amazon, TigerDirect (or any websites with easy return policies)

Country: USA

Parts Preferences: I would like to stick with Intel/NVIDIA and will be using a 24" LED monitor.

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI / Crossfire: Maybe

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 or better (I was looking at the: ASUS ML248H 24-Inch 1920x1080 LED Monitor, but can't seem to find it available "new" anywhere, so I'll be looking for something comparable).

Additional Comments: I'd like to be able to upgrade over the next few years, possibly add more RAM for future video editing. Open to any and all suggestions. Nothing is set in stone.

Optical Drive: Would love suggestions, I don't think I need a bluray, just a standard DVD read/write.

Sound Card: I assume I probably don't need one, but would like to get some suggestions anyway. I will be using a few music/composing programs. Would that put undue pressure on the motherboard without an additional sound card?

I hadn't looked at Corsair cases, but that Carbide Series 400R Mid Tower looks pretty nice. Thanks for the case suggestions!

I like the idea of using the Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz instead. I had been thinking about that, can't believe it's only another $40. But I'm not too keen on the AsRock motherboard. Would the asus one I was looking at currently not be a good combination with the new Ivy? Maybe I should look for a z77 I like. Thoughts?

Also, would I need to get a water cooling system for the IvyBridge, I read it runs hotter than the Sandy.

You don't need water cooling for IB. It runs hotter than SB but only if you throw too many volts into it.

That Asus board will work fine. Don't forget to combo it with your cpu to save a few $$. Here's two more Asus boards to check out that support SLI/Crossfire.

I decided to go with the 1TB HDD, and then get a second one for backup.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Are SSDs worth using in a build like mine?

Any Graphic card suggestions? Would a GTX 570 be sufficient or will it end up slowing me down in the near future?
