Fx 4100 temps good?

Last response: in CPUs

i was playing bf3 today with a fx 4100 16gb ram and a 6870 oc'd my cpu is overclocked to 4 ghz and 1.4 volts and seems to run pretty solid i was getting 54 fps avarage 60 max(because v sync) and 32 low so everything runs pretty smoothly for the system that it is. mainly i dont know how tempuratures handle when it comes to overclocking so the max tempurature i reached the whole time playing was 47 celciousis this good? im using a stock heat sink. if so should i overclock more to try and improve those framerates to solid 60fps or leave it the way it is?

Those temperatures are more than acceptable :)  You may try and push your CPU a little bit further if you wish to do so.

However, I believe that 1.4v is a little high for 4Ghz, you may be able to reach 4.5Ghz with 1.4V from what I've noticed.

The 47c is very good temp and nothing to worry about at all.If you want to overclock you can because you have room with the temps but to get more than 60fps you will have to turn v-sync off. If you want to overclock to get 6 more fps then you won't notice the added fps.

ill try upping the ghz to 4.4 now i had it at 4.6 at one point and it crashed but i think that may just have been because i lelft it at stock voltage

Most likely :)  Those FX chips can OC like heck on stock voltage, but after a certain point, they need heaps

Ok , I was going by your post and the fps you were getting in BF3 , so yes if you take v-sync off then you can get the most that you can from any overclock that you do. Which you do have some room to go with an overclock and every game will be different in what fps you end up with.
The thing that will make the most difference in gaming is the video card and you would improve your fps much more with a newer video card.
