I had a 9800 gt but few weeks back it crashed and stopped working so I am thinking of buying a new card. Can anyone suggest me which one should I get 6770 hd or 7750 hd. Specs are Q6700 and 4 gb ddr2 ram with 1280*1080 resolution display.

6770 is a better card and you should be able to get it for cheaper

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/538?vs=535, There was no 6770 so i compared it to the 5770 which is more a less the same card, Those frame rates look kind of bad but remember that they are benching on very high settings and 1920x1080p res

7750 is a far better card, only costs slightly more, but holds a decent enough performance to fly over 6770.

But your all wrong, They dont have the 6770 so i have compared it with the 5770 which is very similar - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/538?vs=535

As you can see the 5770 is better, so the 6770 should be even better and as for the better performance for your money, once again wrong the 6770 is $90 and the 7750 is $110

Your link is good. But the 7750 is head to head with the 5770. And the 7750 consumes less watts, plus it is more future proof then the 5770.

Yh but remeber thats against the 5770, the 6770 consumes far less power than the 5770, But i do see your point and after looking at some prices i do have to agree that for the money it is good value

To add on this, 7750 has the scalabilty of a much higher overclocking headroom than what a 5770 could ever dream of. Thus, I think it justify the $100+ price tag. When OC'ed properly it should deliver more or less the same performance level as the $125ish cards. And still consume less watts when doing so too.

But this isnt about the 5770 vs the 7750 i just used that because the 6770 wasnt there

Does that matter, really? A 6770 is pretty much a rebranded 4770> BIOS updates or somewhat when goes named to HD5770 > direct rebranding to HD6770.

Don't get me wrong, 6770 is a good card. But the options at hand a far better compelling for price/performance view. Not to mention overclocking headroom and power efficiency.

But your just wrong, the 6770 is a far better card offering about 50% performance increase compared to the 4770 and as for the 7750 having far better performance than the 6770, i have already proved that it doesnt and at stock speeds the 6770 is infact better, The biggest thing going for it is the low power consumption but most people have at least 500w anyway

The HD 6770/5770 is a hair faster than an HD 7750 at best. For its meager power consumption I'd take the HD 7750 and live with the tiny bit less performance. Same performance for half the power consumption? I think that's worth 10 or 20 bucks.

Grab a 6770.It is a very good card and also a bit better than 7750 but can't say about 7750 OC cards.
6770 is also a bit better than 5770.
If your PSU is not capable or good enough to handle the 6770 then go with 7750.

7750 if u have 300-350w power supply and for newer tech and hd 6770 for 400w psu with 1x6pin pcie connector the hd 6770 performs littlebit better then hd 7750 but there is not much bigger differences between those two i think you should go with whichever is cheaper whether it is hd 7750 or hd 6770 they both are good cards for their price.:)

The correct resolutions are 1280*1024 and my psu is 500w.
The specs of 7750 hd shows that it has 512 stream processors while 6770 hd has 800 so won't that make a difference in the overall performance ?

SPU will make a performance difference ,that's why i mentioned that I can't say about the Overclocked versions of 7750,As it is based on new technology by Amd ,the overclocked versions should easily beat 6770.But for your resolution go with 6770 ,you can play all the games at your monitor's full resolution for the next 3 years except some games like anno, alien vs predator 3 or 4 etc, metro (which can be played at a slightly low settings).
By the way which PSU you have??
If you have FSP SAGA,TAGAN ,XFX ,CORSAIR,SEASONIC ,Antec, Silverstone, Glacialtech ,then you will be fine.Real Power Pro and Silent Pro from cooler master will also be okk.
If you don't have any from the above listed vendors. Then please buy a new one.
Go with FSP SAGA 500 w or corsair CX 430 v2.Both will cost you around 2.3-2.5k.

In terms of heat and power consumption HD 7750 produce less hit because it's uses
28nm tech so it is more efficient and produce less hit and require less power .

if you look at tech spec of 6670 on below link you will find that 6670 have more core speed 850 MHZ which is 50 MHZ more then HD 7750 .

Universal Shaders: 800 of HD 6670 where as HD 7750 has 512

Texture Units: 40 of 6670 where as HD 7750 has 32

so if you want
more universal shaders+Texture Units+core speed + memory speed + less to spend =6670

or if you want
less hit + less power consumption + spend more money=7750
