Any quad core CPU will be better in gaming than a dual core CPU, better try to get something like the i5-2400 or the i5-2500, or I would stuck with the i5-650.

The i5 650 is a 2C/4T CPU just like the 21xx's are.
With that in mind, the 21xx's are the best choice.
The Intel link I tried to post isn't working for some reason, but just search for the i5 650.
I didn't state that the i5-650 is a 4C CPU but the i5-2400/2500. And there's no much difference between the i3 2100 and i5-650 to make you say the "best" http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/289?vs=144
But actually I had in mind that most i5s are quad cores and better performers than i3s

No there's not a large difference, but there's no reason to go with an older architecture, either...

Who's gonna look at the architecture? especially if it was a normal user...the overall performance what matters, and I see no point getting either, but a quad core. But yeah the i3-2100 is the sweet pick for the slight performance increase.

Eh, really talking about the platform as a whole, not just the CPU (older socket, harder to upgrade, if needed, etc.), but yeah, we seem to basically agree here.
