Light gaming, getting into BF3 right now, and enjoying it.
So I have a 10 return period on the graphics card, and am not sure if I'm completely happy with it. After playing with afterburner some, I can't get it to stabilize over 875mhz easily, and the sapphire card lacks voltage control on it.
Will my processor be holding me back if I were to go with a 6850/6870?
The a6 should be able to handle the 6850/6870 and no you will not have to upgrade your psu.
The 850 for instance pulls about 110w at.full load which will equate to around 260-270w entire system consumption. The only concern.would.be.having enough power connectors in which the 6850 only needs one or you will have to use an.adapter for.the other connector on.the 6870.
To be perfectly honest though the a6 wont be able to.handle anything more than the 68xx
that apu can handle hd 6850 and your psu also but your psu will not handle a hd 6870 because they need 2x pcie connector thats why so the way is that you should go for an hd 6850 not higher because your cpu will start bottlenecking and your cpu is based with low power performance older athlon ii thats why.
so you should go with hd 6850 will be an good upgrade.
here is the gameplay of hd 6850 with a6 apu battlefield 3 gameplay.
