what is the difference among the two sapphire cards:

#1. a 6770 with 775MHz as stock speed.
#2. a 6770 with 850MHz as stock speed.

Is the same 6770-chipset in <#2.> is just underclocked as in <#1.> with no major flaws?

However,
i have easily overclocked the former to 900MHz with max 60C at full load.

No, VRAM and system RAM have nothing to do with each other. At least not in terms of being related.

Going from 1000mhz VRAM to 1400mhz is a massive jump, new 7000 series cards are only barely hitting that speed. My 5850s top out at 1200. I see some 6770s at 1200 as well, but 1400? No way. Maybe 1250 tops.
higher factory clocks, you pay more for that.
why not jsut get the cheapest model and overclock that?
some people believe higher factory clocked cards have a better quality picked gpus
get the cheapest and overclock and do it yourself, in msi tools you can check an option to keep your overclock at windows startup

Looks to me to just a be a case of vendors offering different clock speeds in order to be more stable with the cooling solution on the individual model of video cards. Some are simply more OCed at the factory than others.

Personally, I would get a cheaper model and OC myself.

Good luck!

actually i didnot figured this until following happened to me:

A week earler, i ordered a 6770 in my local shop. They took 5 days and gave me 6770 with 775MHz at stock. I was quite sure that the gpu could not be 6770, perhaps 6750, but then ques. was how it came into the 6770 box. Just before enquiring in the shop i checked above link & remain stood that i was not aware of this.

Offcouse, this 6770 cost me 10$ cheaper.

Just wanna know: does this chipset lag something from the standard 6770 ones?

<#1.> has vapor-x cooling while <#2.> has copper sink. As claimed by sapphire, former has better cooling then why is it under clocked. It doesnot make sense.

low price may be due to less stock speed, no 3D, only one DVI, etc

Pretty sure 775 mhz is the "stock clock" for these cards. Anything above that is considered a factory overclock and in the majority of cases uses identical hardware and is easily acheivable yourself at home without the BS cost.

The only difference is that some higher end/expensive models do use better parts like the Asus DirectCU TOP line. The "TOP" means top binned parts. There are also some custom PCB designs that deviate from reference models, but that usually doesn't affect performance as it still has the same parts. Besides that, the major difference between GPUs of the same model is their cooler. Vapor-X for instance is considered one of the best coolers. Better cooling can mean you are able to overclock more, but this is not always the case. Usually it just means it'll operate quieter.

catalyst led me to overdrive 775 to 800 MHz only.

But i m using TriXX Utility from sapphire and oced to 900 with safe temp of 60-63C during bench-tests.

Also, all u guys pay attention:

my gpu memory clock are not stable at 1400MHz. Probably since i use ram 4gb @ 1333MHz, so it may be raised to max 1333. Am i correct?

but doesnt the warranty get void if you overclock yourself?

#1. under-clocked: 500/800Mhz at max 55c
#2. stock: 775/1000Mhz at max 58c
#3. over-clocked: 900/1333Mhz at max 63c

i have jumped from stock to 900/1333MHz being stable(at max 60-63c, no flickering so far) using TriXX Utility.

isn't it to be surprised to have it in a room temp of ~28-30c?

Probably, Vapor-X should get the compliments.
Also, i suppose it to due to my low resolution of 1360x768. Only BF3 demanded me to OC my gpu for enabling MSAA/VSync/...etc, rest all games run +40 fps at stock.
