Well lets see, you did not list what kind of processor you have. Even if your CPU is really old it can still benefit from a better graphics card in games. Unless you have a pentium 3 in there, the graphics card is holding your gaming experience back right now.

allso depends on how hard you wanna play games so from my point you could be looking at upgrading the entire rig.

With a 220V PSU, I'm guessing you are not in the USA, so I won't post specific Newegg links. Unless you want to rebuild your entire system, in your place I would not buy any GPU stronger than a HD6770. A HD7750 would be good too. If money is tight, as little as a HD6670 (GDDR5 version) would be acceptable. All in all, you will still need to lower some settings to play the most recent games, but you should still be able to play them with decent settings.

Getting either 4 or 8 GB of DDR3 and a 6770 or 7750 would be a good way to go. A 6570 or 6670 would still be a huge step up, but you'd be stepping from the basement to ground floor. You wouldn't be very high up the ladder, but they'd let you at least run games.

500W is fine, as long as it's a decent PSU. If it's a garbage brand or something bundled in a cheap case, then you might want a new one. Something like this is a quality product that Tom's uses for builds including Radeon 6850s. Seasonic, Antec, and XFX are very good PSU brands.

You can use up to two sticks of either type, but I don't think you can mix DDR2 and DDR3 on your board at the same time. Getting 4GB of DDR3 would be a decent upgrade too; you'll only be able to see 3.2GB-3.5GB with a 32bit OS, so there's no need to get 8GB unless you're going to upgrade your OS too.

Oops. Skipped over the 32-bit Windows. There are things you could do if you felt like getting into more advanced stuff, but yeah, you'd be limited to 4 GB for the OS.
