Hello,
This is my first time posting to this forum so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. I finished building my first PC and it plugged in and worked fine. Today I installed another fan on the side panel. When I boot it up the fans start to whir like crazy and there is a smell of burning coming from inside. Did I burn the motherboard or something or is there something wrong with the fans? Also I haven't over worked the computer because I haven't even installed an OS.

Specs:
Asus Z77 motherboard

PNY GTX 560

I5 something

Corsair power supply

Three cooler master fans

The first thing to do is to disconnect the new fan you just installed to see if thats what caused the burning smell , if it isn't the fan or any of the other fans then it could be a defective power supply.

The fan seems to be the problem, thanks!
