I know this is a strange question, don't ask if i'm a time traveler from the year 1998, just bear with me. So, the story. I have a very old laptop that I love, and it has a socket 7 motherboard. It was built in 1995 (ctx ezbook 700E). I also had another one like it when I was younger, from 1998 that came with an AMD k6-2. The one I currently have has a pentium mmx 200 mhz. I fixed up the k6-2, since it had one missing pin, and some corrosion or something similar on the other pins. I put it in an alchohol bath, and straightened the pins. I tested it, and it works. Now, should I replace the Pentium MMX with the k6-2, or keep the pentium? Also, this laptop has no fan.
Any help is appreciated, from anyone who can tell me this!
Depends on what you want to run. If only games then go with with K6 (assuming it's a 350Mhz or better part), otherwise go with the Pentium. The K6 series had an extremely weak floating point processor which made it pretty much useless for anything other than games.
