Hello all, I am wondering whether I will get a bottleneck with this system during gaming, i.e, BF3, skyrim, Borderlands.
AMD FX-4100 OC to 3.9GHz
AMD Radeon HD 6870
500w psu
8gb ram

Any questions, just ask.

Also, I will probably upgrade to Piledriver when it comes out.

Probably not (especially if you OC the 4100 a bit more to something like 4.2 or so), but if this is a new build, why not just wait for Piledriver, anyway?

I've had it for about 3 months using a radeon 6670 which isn't exactly a brilliant card! Also, about overclocking the fx 4100, what's the highest you can oc the 4100 on the stock fan? Thanks for the help.

On the stock cooler, I wouldn't OC it any further than 4.2 (which is what a 4170 is clocked at, so the stock cooler should be able to handle that, at least). It's not ideal, but it'll probably do.

I would really suggest an aftermarket cooler if you want to OC much past your current OC, though.

Mid October or November is my best guess. Nothing is really confirmed yet, though (that I know of).

you don't think a 4100 is going to choke on bf3?

A bit, but with a 6870, it won't really matter. The 6870 will struggle at higher resolutions, itself.
