Hey
I should be ordering my new gaming pc in the next few hours and wanted to check a few things.
The build as it stands is
CPU: http://www.ebuyer.com/349022-intel-core-i5-3450-3-1ghz-...
OS: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-OEM-software-intended...
RAM: http://www.ebuyer.com/248846-corsair-8gb-ddr3-1600mhz-v...
HARD DRIVE: http://www.ebuyer.com/272944-seagate-500gb-barracuda-in...
OPTICLE: http://www.ebuyer.com/273174-sony-ad-7280s-sata-dvd-opt...
INTERNET: http://www.ebuyer.com/278131-tp-link-pci-network-adapte...
CASE: http://www.ebuyer.com/343262-cit-vantage-gaming-case-bl...
PSU: http://www.ebuyer.com/269259-corsair-600w-cx-series-v2-...

and here are the parts im choosing beside
GPU http://www.ebuyer.com/253958-gigabyte-gtx-560ti-oc-1gb-... or http://www.ebuyer.com/362481-msi-nvidia-amd-hd7870-oc-1...

MOBO http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-GA-H61M-S2PV-SKT-1155-... or http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007NOYCZ0/?tag=pcp0f-21

I would like to go with either the 560 ti or the 7870 and the cheaper mobo. But if i need to cpend more on the mobo i will get the ASRock H77.

My question is how much of a bonus will the more expensive components get me and is the system compatible?

Thanks

Andy

I see several issues:
CPU: For 30 more you could have a 3570k. Why not just go for it. You'll have lots of extra performance at your fingertips.
RAM: High profile design. Bad for compatibility with heatsinks. Consider the same ram in a low profile design.
Hard Drive: Only 16 MB cache? Very low performance. Get a drive with 64 MB cache for reasonable performance.
Optical: Sony doesn't make very good drives. Consider Pioneer or LiteOn instead.
Case: Is rather low end. Consider putting some more into it and getting a better case with USB 3 ports in the front panel.
MB: That Gigabyte board is the lowest end board they make. Don't get it.

Thanks
I can get the 3570k for only 20 more so that sounds great.
Im not 100% sure what ram i can get that has a lower profile, perhaps you can surgest one?
for the hard drive i could get the http://www.ebuyer.com/341377-wd-500gb-green-desktop-dri... for not much more. Would that be better?
hmm, i have found http://www.ebuyer.com/341398-three-hundred-two-tower-ca... its more than i would like to spend but if its needed ill pay

what would be better
the 3450 and the 7870 or the 3570k and a 560 ti?
Im not 100% sure i can get both

The 3570 for 20 more sounds great.

RAM:Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Low Profile Vengeance Memory http://www.ebuyer.com/274035-corsair-8gb-ddr3-1600mhz-l...

HDD: No, a greens drive's performance will be unsatisfactory. Here's a good drive to get: WD 1TB Black Desktop Drive http://www.ebuyer.com/193712-wd-1tb-black-desktop-drive...

I would go for the 3570k and 560Ti combination. Make sure you get a Z77 based motherboard so the CPU works straight away without requiring a MB BIOS update.

The Antec case you linked to is very nice, and only a few dollars more.

No trouble at all. Ask all the questions you need to. It's my pleasure to help.

I took a good look at the CIT case, and I have to tell you, I don't like it. First off, it doesn't have USB 3 ports in front. This might seem unimportant now, but will become more important as more more SW is distributed on flash drives, a growing trend. You'll miss not having the convenience of those fast ports sitting up front.

The other thing is that it's made of really thin cheap metal. Nothing like the construction quality of the Antec.
