Here is my build.

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K
MOBO: ASRock Z77 Pro4
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
GPU: MSI R7870 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC Radeon HD 7870
PSU: OCZ ZS Series 550W
HD: Seagate ST2000DM001 Barracuda 7200RPM 2 TB
SSD: Crucial 128 GB m4
Case: Antec Three Hundred Illusion
RAM: G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
DVD Drive: Sony AD-7280S-0B 24x SATA Internal DVD+/-RW Drive
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit

I downloaded 3D Mark 11 in order to test my graphics card. However whenever I attempt to launch it, it results in my computer freezing up and having to be restarted. After doing some investigation, it looks like when the 3D Mark application starts up to 4000 ekag20nt.exe processes also start up, resulting in a system halt.

I tracked down the processes to be a result of Virtu MVP, which I think came as part of the mobo utilities. I found that if I uninstall Virtu MVP I am able to run 3D Mark without any additional issues.

Can someone explain what Virtu MVP is used for, and if I should reinstall it?

it's a program that comes as part of your motherboard's 'core' drivers. supposedly improves graphics frame rates, vsync rates and 'boosts responsiveness'. never noticed any improvement.

it's perfectly safe to uninstall the program, imo you don't need it at all. i had to do the same, virtu would launch 200+ instances of its 'ekag20nt.exe' and overload my system..

Great thanks! I've been running without it without issues so far. Seems you are correct and it is not needed.
