Do i Set a high range wireless lan connectivity in over 5 km

You do know even an Ethernet cable needs a repeater every 300 meters. Set up an internet connection at each site and a VPN to connect to the network. The longest wireless connection I have ever head of is 1 mile and it involved lining up expensive line of sight antennas and hack the firmware on both routers. If white space routers become a reality maybe you could do this one day.
