Intel 320 having problems with Windows Update

When I run Windows update on my new build - once I restart my computer it won't boot immediately into Windows - it will just show a black screen with the cursor. I'm wondering if it's an issue with my SSD (which is why I hate Sandforce) or if it's with something else. I checked Intel's website for firmware updates but the last one dates back to 9/7/11 which I updated to and it's still having problems. What is causing this problem?

How much did you customize the BIOS settings?
Some times dual bios mb's have issues . The check is to reset it to defaults and see if the problem persists

I haven't run it on anything but defaults.
