With a system like that, you'll need at least 35-40 amps on your 12v rail just to be safe. If you're not seeing that on the side, get a new one, one with a good efficiency rating and at least 350 volts to the 12v rail.

Stick to brands like Seasonic, XFX, Corsair and such. With 2x HD 6870 it would be a good idea to go for 700-750W just to be safe. You don't want your PSU to run at nearly 100% capacity, some breathing room would be good.

Question: How many Auxillary PCIe power connectors does it have? For two 6870 cards you will need at least 4 6pin or 6+2 pin connectors. Find a power supply that says how many of those it has first.

I wouldn't even consider buying a power supply in the 650-750W range that didn't cost at least $90-$100. Stick with good quality brands such as Seasonic, Corsair, Antec, OCZ, XFX, or Cougar.

Keep in mind guys that the 6870 is a 151W part. (I think) Two would need 300W or so just for them. Your basic 100W CPU and 50W for rest of system and you only need 450W or so for a CF setup with these cards. Any of the new 600W+ PSUs will be more then enough for such a setup. 750W? Thats for like GTX560TI and 69xx setups.

Max TDP is 151W. a quality 600W should be plenty. 750W is overkill
