Hi everybody!
I'm started to buy my rig.For the psu i'v decided to go with Seasonic S12-500W,but some friends told me to change with Tagan Easycon 480-U15(lower price, high quality)

My rig will be something between Athlon 3700+ and X2 3800+(if the price cutting on 28 July,if not i'll go with Intel D 940),with 2 Hdd,1 BFG 7600gt oc,1 burner,1 cd-rom,1floppy

Help me !Give me some links to some valuable reviews, tell me which is the better choice!

Thanks

i agree, 130 USD for 17 and 16 amps on dual 12v rails is not worth it. for that price get an Antec NeoHE, triple 12v rails 18 amps each.

Something fishy about that Tagan.

It claims 20A/20A on the 12V rails. But then goes on to say 360W combined power.

In other words, you cant load both rails to 20amps at the same time. I dont believe the seasonic has this limitation, its total output at 12V is 396W.

On a 500W PSU, that only leaves 104W for everything else if you actually managed to run the PSU at full load on 12V. Even 4 sticks of DDR2 memory can use 30W, hard drives, motherboards all will add to the 3.3/5V rails.

SeaSonic make very high quality psu's, and their 'peak' load is considerably higher than their rated maximum, and their cooling system is extremely quiet.

Tagan was supposed to be on par with PC P&C, also, NO psu will be able to simply add the amps on the separate 12v rails, whether you have 2, 3 or 4. Check it on any psu you want including pc p&c.

For the seasonic... where did you get that 396 number?

I didnt mean to imply Tagen were 'bad'. Just that Seasonic are also very high quality PSU's, and not bad value for money.

The 500W antec NEO HE is 17/17/17, have to buy the 550W to get 20amp rails. Like the Tagan if you were to load all the 500W Neo's rails to 17amps, you would be drawing 612watts. The Neo's rated with a maximum output @12v of 456. This is slightly higher than the Seasonic, but that only leaves 44watts for 3.3/5/-5/-12. Thats bearly enough power for RAM!

Tagan/Seasonic/Antec. All good brands of PSU, but its wise to read all the figures before saying one is good, and the other is bad. From the 500W supplies, I would go for the Seasonic, or the Antec, rather than the Tagan.

OK!But which,Seasonic or Tagan(less expensive,only 480W,good-loocking)?

Silent PC Review did a review on the Seasonic S12 500W, 396W combined 12v output is what they listed. (They had a photo of the PSU's rating label)

IMHO, all three PSU's would more more than sufficient to power your PC. The Seasonic, and Antec would have slightly more 'spare capacity' for future upgrades.

The Seasonic may have the edge on being quiet, they fans are very quiet, then Antec has a slight advantage on its 12V rails, and the tagan has a price advantage.

I cant imagine you would be unhappy with any of them.

Seasonic is also very efficient, from 200W to 500W its >86% efficient. Thats a pretty good result.

Hey H
I just completed a nice power rig about 4 months ago and I went with a SeaSonic S12 600 watt power supply. I have had no problems with it. It runs stable, it also runs cool, what else can I say.

From what hardware you are planning to use, before you decide, consider this; If you plan on putting anything else in your rig, you will undoubtedly need more power. Many gaming enthusiasts always say...me included...you can NEVER have TOO much power dude  I have 3 HDD's 2 cd roms 2 graphic cards, dual cpu, dual channel ram and all of these power hungry monsters need consistant juice to keep em happy. Kind of like a HIGH maintenace girlfriend  ya give em more money...they want more...well... same goes for hardware and OC'in
Hope I gave ya some pause for thought. Check my comp specs and you'll see what I mean.
ciao bro

Right! More money, more sex ,more power... always the same story :D
But i'v a budget, and Seasonic S12-600 is out of my budget
Tagan in a good bargain, but did you read the reviews above?Seasonic S12-500 is more affordable for me.

Thanks

The 396w for the 12v rails is the combination of 17amps on the 12v1 rail and 16amp on the 12v2 rail.

The Seasonic S12 500 sticker can be found on this page.

Since I own a Seasonic S12 500, I can say that is is really, really quiet. I don't hear the Seasonic's fan, but I do hear the other fans in my CPU including my Zalman 7000-Cu at about 7v on the fan.

The Seasonic S12 series is expensive, but it's a premium level PSU that is rock solid stable, very efficient, quiet, and provides plenty of power for most systems. For a X1900XT Crossfire setup, the Seasonic S12 500 won't be enough, but a S12 600 most likely will be good enough.

And I don't need SLI.
I'l grab the Seasonic S12-500,seem to be the best.

Thanks :)

i'd grab the cheaper one snce they both are good and both will run your system

The cheaper is Tagan, but what about it's stability? And how could be possible this?
Tagan has 2 rails each ones with 20A with a sum of 360W,and Seasonic has 2 rails but 1 with 17A and other with 16A(less than Tagan)and the sum is 396W (more than Tagan) :?

Thanks

the thing is you system isnt a power hungry one. either of the PSU's will run it fine, thats why i recommend the cheaper one.

the seasonic probably has a higher efficency thats why it delivers more watts
