Ok I've been looking at upgrading from a AMD Phenom II X2 550 3.1GHz to a AMD FX-4170 4.2GHz. I know I'll have to upgrade my motherboard as well to a AM3+ socket and I've come across a combo deal on Newegg.com

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...

My system atm is as such:
Windows 7 64-bit
AMD phenom II X2 550 3.1Ghz
ECS MCP61M-M3 motherboard
8Gb of ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Ultra 650 watt PSU

I mainly use my comp for Gaming and music. Atm its mainly WoW and Diablo3.
Just wondering how much off an upgrade you guys would think this would be for my system.
a c 120 à CPUs
a b À AMD
a c 154 V Motherboard

I cannot say for a fact but it is my belief that you would see the requisite 15% increase in performance suggested for upgrade - you may want to wait a month and a half (or so) to see what piledriver has to offer though, as there should be an improvement there also.

Ya 4170 will not be that great of improvement. If your switching your mobo go intel but if you want AMD, do what Friedman said and wait for piledriver
