[CPU][Video] Help. Cleaned CPU fan, and it turns on and off

Dear big brothers and sisters of tom's hardware,


I took the CPU fan off to clean it. I put it back on, and this is what it does.

The computer turns on, and turns off 3~5 seconds later. I don't think it's the PSU because I swapped with another one and it does the same thing.

I also noticed that thermal paste on the CPU is dried and has very little on it.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I am very desperate. My friend built this gaming computer for me, and I treasure it very much.

Welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums,
Doubtful this is causing your issue but if you took the heatsink off the CPU you will need to (I rarely use the word need) replace the thermal compound. There are stickies on how to.
On to the restart issue, I would try resetting CMOS (after applying new thermal compound). Your motherboard manual explains how or you can follow this guide.
