Computer startup hardware problems

Hello,
I have built a new PC. When i power on the PC starts up for about 5 secs and shuts down for about 7 secs and starts up again. It then works alright. What could be the problem and how can i stop this shut down immediately after start up?

Are you receiving any peculiar post messages?
Have you tried resetting your bios to the default settings?

Try to default the bios and check if the memory test is on. If it is disable it. If the problem persist try one memory stick at the time. Also check if the automatic overclock is on. Set CPU setting to stock.
