The Silent Fractal Case and Fans puts it a little over the budget, but well worth it.

I used a I5 ivy Bridge unlocked CPU for the build and a newer HD 7870 GPU. The 6950 is being phased out. the 7870 is faster and run cooler using less power.

Realised about the updated ivy bridge about an hour ago and then the phase out of the 6950s

Is the extra 100 dollars for the better version of the gpu worth it or not
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_711_1183&products_id=19864
for the motherboard also would keep me around 1400

EDIT:
went with SanDisk Extreme 120GB $129 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=210_902_1376&products_id=19790
and HDD: WD Green 2TB $119 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=210_344&products_id=17282
just because 64gb isn't really enough for everything and 20 dollars more for another tb seems worth it

SSD and HDD switch works for me. I was looking a the Crucial M4 128Gb, but it wasn't in stock and a little more$

I was going to go with a single PCIe 3.0 MB, but you said maybe on SLI, so I wanted to leave the option open to you. the AsRock MB works for me also.

the 7870 vs the 6950 the 7870 is a faster GPU and is more efficient. it ultimately your call. the 6950 isn't a bad card for gaming. it does run a little hot, so it you are putting the rig in a warm environment then you should go with the 7870.
