Approximate Purchase Date: this or next week

System Usage: gaming (mostly diablo III, starcraft II, guild wars 2 and some other mmo)

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: amazon, newegg

Parts Preferences: intel ivy bridge cpu

So far this is what I have:

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/8gXl

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($228.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($19.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($129.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($46.99 @ Newegg)
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda ES 750GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($73.10 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 2GB Video Card ($359.99 @ Amazon)
Case: NZXT Phantom (Black/Orange) ATX Full Tower Case ($104.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: OCZ 750W ATX12V Power Supply ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($24.97 @ Newegg)

Total: $1079.00

Not really sure about the motherboard since I've seen mixed reviews and I want an ivy bridge processor so I can expand into a better video card in the future without having to change it.

The mixed reviews about the board I'm guessing are the knobs on newegg who don't know about updating their bios yet they put their tech level as "high" on that site. I take newegg reviews with a grain of salt.

Sapphire AMD Radeon HD7850 2GB DDR5 DVI/HDMI/2x Mini DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card - 11200-00-20G

Combo that board with a hard drive or a hard drive with the dvd writer.

if there a Microcenter near u i did recommend u go there and buy the i5 3570k $190 , and u get $50 off on the z77 motherboard , and u can get a nice after market cooler with the money u saved from that combo.

Why downgrade the video card? Not really sure but I think the 7870 is going to bottleneck the cpu with a 7850 would be even worse. Or do you think that for those games a 7850 is more than enough to play them in highest settings?

Also, never bought anything from superbiiz, do they work as good as amazon/newegg?

I would personally go for the i5 2500k and use the 30 dollars or so to get a GTX 670
