Need help getting my PC to boot up! PLEASE!

So I have all my parts put together and everything seems to be working. Problem is when I insert my Win7 disc and press a key, NOTHING HAPPENS! Is this common? What could I be doing wrong?

Notes:

-The motherboard recognizes my BR/DVD Drive and my 1TB HDD
-No matter what I seem to do in the boot options bios, nothing happens

I'm assuming you mean you 'press a key' when it asks you to press a key to boot from your optical drive, at which point nothing happens.

I'd definitely try another drive first... just a plain 'ol cd/dvd drive if you got one laying around.

Well I just got it to work. I had to switch the sata connect for some reason. WHEW! Big bullet dodged!
