Advice for a first time builder , $1000-$1300 range

Approximate Purchase Date: Probably in about 2-3 weeks

Budget Range:$1000-$1300

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, SOME schoolwork...I have a laptop for most of that (Includes running multiple VM's), surfing the net

Parts Not Required: Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor (Not 100% yet)

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: (If there are other sites in Canada that are better let me know!)

Country: Canada

Parts Preferences: Not many preferences as this is my first build, I'm open to any and all suggestions

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Not sure

Monitor Resolution: Not sure, haven't decided if I want to just use my 32" tv or buy a new monitor

Additional Comments: Hoping to be able to run present games to an enjoyable extent as well as a bit of futureproofing.

This is a build me and a friend came up with very quickly on our break, it's not something I plan to use but just something to get me started...hoping for any and all suggestions, I'm new to this and want to make sure I spend my money wiseley so I'm trusting you guys! :)

  2. Looks like a great build, will put a lot of thought into it. One other thing though, I'll be moving to Calgary this summer and will literally be a few blocks from a Mem Express...should I still go with directcanada and bestdirect or would it be wiser to just stick with Mem? And if Mem, any other ideas for a build from there?
  3. you can go to mem express website and check for good deals(they usually do) and maybe buy those parts over there and buy some other stuff at direct canada/bestdirect
