in CPU performance the I5 is much better
but in GPU This AMD is better

will the AMD do the job? will it be fast enough with 4gb? coding, music, videos, itunes, skype, facebook ect

I reckon it will, i have an a8-3850 and if you used software that utilizes quad cores fully, the APU will be more than enough, however dual core optimized application and single threaded application, will run much faster on the intel i5, due to you will basically run them on an Athlon single core at 3.0ghz which is equivalent to Intel 2.4 ghz ~ 2.6 ghz

So if you know for sure your apps can scale to 4 cores, go ahead and grab the APU without any worries, believe me you wont have any regrets.
