Will I notice a considerable difference in FPS while gaming? I mostly play games made by Valve (pretty low requirements to max them), Indie stuff, and some console-ports like the Batman games.
I'll pair it with an entry-level card, the GTX 550 ti, which has managed to max most of the stuff I play with my current Pentium Dual Core, and after consulting a lot of sites, including Tom's benchmarks regarding the gaming potential of AMD cpus vs Intel's, I feel that paying more for a i3 with HT is kind of pointless since I do no video editing or any other tasks that could benefit from it and all benchmarks I came across show that there's a minimal difference in performance between the G860 and the I3s when it comes to gaming.
I pretty much upgrade every 2 years and so far all of the low-end pentiums have proved to be just what I need, and I pretty much loled when Tom's benchmark showed that the G860 manages to beat some of the AMD's FX series at their stock speeds.
Also, the price difference is bigger than the usual $10-$20 where I live, so that could go to getting a case with better cooling and quality fans made by Noctua. The only thing I try to future-proof is the case.
