Hi guys I allready own an 8150 using it for render farm, Stuck in a decision to upgrade a Athlon ii x2 270 @ 4ghz to either another 8150 or a 980be or just OC a 965/970be this rig will be for pure gaming.

(Don't want to hear about i5-3570K i haven't got the funds atm to get the replacement for the one i burnt out)

if u can get a PIIX4 980 well id prob say go with that since fx cpus rnt best for gaming but since u alrdy have a 8150 try one game on it, if u like it get another. A 965be is prob ur cheapest option which with an oc is basically a 980be lol

The 8150 is in use as a renderfarm, im saying with all the science of disabling cores in each module what will give the most bang for buck or just OCing a PII X4 9xx series.

Well an oc'd 965 will give u ur best bang for u buck because u can still buy it brand new off newegg/tigerdirect, im not to sure on a 970/980 for prices, but an oc'd 8150 i beleive is similar to a x6, just matters if u want to spend the extra money on another 8150. Newegg has a 965 for $110 and a 8150 for $190 witha $15 newegg gift card.

and i understand that ur current 8150 is used for rendering but since u alrdy own one it wouldnt hurt to try it with gaming and see how u like it.

I know how the Dozer operates on games i have used it in the past, im asking 980 vs 8150 for a gaming rig

CPU - Too be confirmed
GPU - Crossfire HD6870s
Ram - 12gb ddr3
Mobo - ASUS Sabertooth 990FX TUF
PSU - 1200w (cant r

^ that gaming fps benchmarks are quiet good in showing performance and since a 975 beats the fx and x6, a 980 would be the best choice.

But for best choice money wise as i said a 965 wins because it can be bought retail yet and on ebay a 980 will prob cost u more than the fx 8150
