I made two mistakes in the build. I put the PSU in right side up and I put too much thermal paste on when I put in the heat sink.

Result is that the CPU runs hotter than I would like. While running Sims 3, it easily pushes over 80c.

There are 3 basic questions I have:

If I turn the PSU upside down, do I need to elevate the case? There is probably 3/4 inch space between the case and the table it's sitting on. Will that bring in enough airflow for the PSU?

Do I need to replace the stock heat sink? Unfortunately, the Microcenter website appears to be malfunctioning. But I can get this heat sink for around $25 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1683...

Do I need extra fans? I have the stock fans - 1 120 mm fan in front and back. I could put a 200 mm fan in front and on top. I only have power connections for three fans. So I'm guessing the side fan is out of action.

I am guessing that simply reapplying the thermal paste will do the job. But if I have to make any modifications, I'd rather do it all now. Putting that heat sink in is rather difficult. I'd rather not have to do it more than once (more)

Thanks for any feed back!

Well if you are going to overclock your CPU then you should get an aftermarket cooler anyway, if not then just reapply the paste.

A bit confused about the PSU problem, Is the PSU top or bottom mounted?

Which way is the fan facing?
