No sound when playing audio cd,s

I only get sound when I check the "Enable digital cd audio for this CD-ROM device" box, under Multimedia properties. Then I get some crackles through the speakers.I have tried to uncheck this box and get no sound. How do I get analog sound ?

Make sure you have an analog audio cable connecting your CDROM to your sound card.
