Hi, I am currently using ATI 6970 and every time I reinstall Catalyst, it works briefly, but once I restart my system, it fails to work again.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I have tried using Driver Cleaner from safe mode, updating my .NET framework, I have reinstalled my entire windows 7 OS, to which all of them have failed.

Catalyst does open, but only the advertisement loads, everything else does not load.

The weird thing is sometimes, catalyst would work for certain periods of time, and then all of a sudden it would go back to not loading.

heres what it looks like

As you can see, it basically "half loads" none of the options in the sidebar loads, i can even move it around, but it just wont fully load.

Please help me solve this problem!

Thanks for your time!

Have you tried installing 12.1. Or try re-installing Direct X

Have you tried any different drivers? I'm using the 12.3 preview(beta) driver without issue with my 5870, and a buddy of mine is using it with his 6950 as well. http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=2858 You can also try using the original install disk that came with your 6970 and then update after. Maybe your missing something from the catayst package.(shot in the dark really)

You seem to be following the right steps to troubleshoot the error, so tring a different driver is the only thing I can suggest...maybe someone else will be able to help further.

I haven't tried installing 12.1 yet, I just want to make sure I exhaust every option before I choose to downgrade catalyst.

I took at look at the directions, I do not seem to have the "Public key token" 90ba9c70f846762e file that they want me to delete. does it show up after I delete ATI files? All my "public key token" seem to start with either 31b or a b03.

Yeah I have also tried installing from the original disk with no success also.

Thanks for your help anyways, if all fails, I will try the beta, if that fails, then I will go with 12.1. But I started having this problem over six months ago.

I got a couple more links for you to check out, but since I have not ran into the issue myself, I really can't answer many questions on the subject. I'll just try to point you in the right direction if possible. Sorry I can't help further on the matter... :(

Hopefully one of these resolutions help fix your problem.

PS: While searching I noticed that there was other people having the same issue with the 12.2 driver.(not everyone though) I would consider tring the beta I posted or even go back as far as the 11.11c driver(another beta) http://downloads.guru3d.com/AMD-Catalyst-11.11c-Perf-Dr... In the last 3 or four months I 've actually been finding the beta drivers more stable/reliable for some reason. I don't know why, but the 12.3 pre release driver, and the 11.11c beta driver gives me the best results overall for the games I play. BF3, Dirt 2 and 3, and a couple of the Need for Speed games. I was on the 11.11c primarily until the 12.3 pre-release came out. I tried the WHQL drivers in between and started having a few minor issues with some games. Like corruption on certain textures for example. So I'm just staying on the beta/pre-release drivers for now.

Thanks for the reply! I looked at the two links you gave me, the first one doesnt seem to be my problem, and the second one ive tried already with no success. I think I will just do what you say and install either the beta or the older version.

Should i uninstall the current version first and then install it? and which version would you recommend i try?
