The other day I got a new graphics card and PSU. I took it to a shop to get it all fitted and they said it worked fine but after about
5 minuets of playing the game I got the graphics card for my computer completely shut down. I thought it had just overheated but my PSU has 100watts more than my graphics card needs so I immediately thought that that was a bit strange. after trying again a few times I heard a Rather loud High pitch noise coming from my computer. I had a closer look and it sounds like its my PSU making the noise.

It will stop now and the depending on what I'm doing. If I go on a YouTube video it will start and if I go on a game it will start. It cant be coil whine because i only got the PSU 2 days ago and it got fitted yesterday. I have also dusted it out a bit and that didn't work at all either.

Here is the PSU:http://www.amazon.co.uk/650w-Gold-Silent-Power-Supply/dp/B0016ZOH7A/ref=tag_stp_s2_edpp_url

And the graphics card:http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/evga-nvidia-geforce-gtx-580-pci-e-2-0-graphics-card-1-5gb-11336634-pdt.html

If you need any other information just ask. All i want to know is how to sort the noise and the overheating.

Buy a real 650 watt power supply
[strike]Warning, it will cost you twice as much[/strike] oops, make that 3 times as much

It's a crap PSU, like the others said, go research a XFX 550watt Core Edition, costs £50 but at least it won't damage your PC, wonder if it is already fried

I made the mistake of buying a CIT power supply a while back it said 700W but could not power a 4870, put it in the bin and get one that works. Even if it did work its not worth the risk to your other components. If you can return the GPU as well here is the same one £80 cheaper http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/PALIT+GeForce+GTX+580+1536MB+GDDR5+PCI-Express+Graphics+Card+?productId=48956
or a better one £20 cheaper
