No computer video when I connect my Pc to my HDTV using a hdmi cable *need help

I have a Vizio 37 inch and a MSI all in one PC I am trying to connect the two using HDMI cable, but whenever I do all I get is the PC's desktop wall paper and the audio of whatever Facebook game I am playing. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong. I've tried adjusting the screen display but nothing is working and I know it must be something simple. Can you help me please? Thank you.

did you set tv to receive pc signal(edit and erase your e-mail or you could receive spam)

sounds like you have it set to extended desktop instead of clone. Just press Windows+P a couple of times until you find the right setting.
