Pc crashes when playing SWTOR

Decided to take advantage of SWTOR 7 day Free Trial. Downloaded, installed, created a character and played a few minutes. Sometimes I can play for 15 minutes, sometime only 3 before I lose my video. My monitors go blank with a "connection lost" msg. I have several computer games installed and SWTOR is the only one that causes this problem. When it happens, my computer goes quiet and I have to physically shut it and an power up again. Here are the specs: ASUS Intel i5 650 @ 3.20GHz, RAM 8GB, 64-bit os, Win 7

  1. There are a lot of things that it could be and not just the video card. What do you have for a hdd , MB and power supply. Pleaase list brands and models , other wise we are just guessing at what it could be.
For starters try connecting your hdd to a different sata port. Also you can delete the current download and do it over just to see if there might have been an error while downloading the first time. Sometimes it could be a glitch in the driver download as well so you could do the driver install over.

It would also be a good idea to get the latest drivers for the video card (12.2).

It would also be a good idea to get the latest drivers for the video card (12.2).

when I bought it last year, I upgraded both the video card & power supply @ the time of purchase (Best Buy installed it)
power supply make/model = unk but it is a 1200 watt
ur showing that I should have 12.2 as the latest video card driver? when I checked for an update, it said what I had was the latest driver...will manually check their website

    Other Specs:
    ASUS Essentio CG5275 Desktop
    Hard Drive 1.0 x 1.0 TB - Standard - Serial ATA-300 - 7200.0 rpm
Installed Size 8.0 GB / 16.0 GB (max)
    Technology DDR3 SDRAM
    Memory Speed 1333.0 MHz
Graphics Processor / Vendor Intel HD Graphics Dynamic Video Memory Technology 5.0
    Video Memory 32.0 MB
Digital Video Standard Digital Visual Interface (DVI) , High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)

All of that I got str8 from their website, any more specifics I don't know, i.e. hdd make/model (whatever was installed)
I don't really want to take it apart and try switching sata ports, my old Pavilion was a pain in the butt when it came to upgrading and replacing stuff
If I haven't provided any actual Useful Info, let me know and I'll just bite the bullet and take it in to the geek squad
    And again, Thanks
    Especially for your patience
  4. hdd = ST31000528AS ATA Device
  5. found the 12.2
    will download, install and retry
if a No-Go will follow ur other advice on uninstalling and redownloading because I Do Remember the last part of the installation showing a Loss Of Connectivity during the Update part of the installation (just remembered that)
  6. DagNab it! I hesitated before installing the update, thinking maybe I should Back Up my stuff before doing it, but didn't = I got an error msg which follows:

    AMD Display Driver
    Final Status: Fail
    Version of Item: 8.950.0.0000
    Size: 90 Mbytes
Driver Install: the INF file was not found

am too tired to deal with this tonight, will try again tomorrow
    inzone, Thnx for your help
am going to mark this as Solved
