Putting a xeon quad processor in an alienware motherboard.

Hello,i have a very hard (to me) cpu question.i bought an alienware desktop from someone for very cheap,the only thing missing was the cpu,i looked up the motherboard and it says it accepts core i7 processors socket 1366.now i have an option to purchase a xeon quadcore 1366 socket quadcore processor.my question is will it fit since its the same socket type?.if anyone could let me know that would be great!,thanks alot in advance.

I'm not sure if all Xeons need ECC ram or just support it. It more depends on the board I would say. Alienware's have a bit of a proprietary bios as well, so it might support the chip because it won't recognize it, even if the ram works.
