AMD versions/makes

Hi folks

i've some doubts regarding AMD CPU
Manchester/Newcastle/venice...etc
what are they ? make or version...generation ?

i've come across some charts , some version varies in performance.

and i'm confused...there are x2 3800 that uses TDP of 89W 65W and 35W
35W might be used on laptops...
89W are the commonly sold...how bout 65W ?

AMD and Intel make "efficient models" of their CPUs. The 65W version is an EE version and the 35W is a small-form factor version (i.e HTPC).

Note: AMD TDP numbers are maximums and Intel uses TDP as an typical/average (under load).

I wish AMD + Intel would ditch the higher-watt versions of their respective CPUs, but I guess it has to do with yields?
