I know it could bring bad things having the option to be anonymous but its really dumb having people make an account just to ask a question and never post again.

More about : anonymous

If you have a question you think can be answered without you needing to provide more details you have a very simplistic question that is either already here, or likely already on yahoo answers 100,000 times.

Very few technical questions can be answered adequately in the form they are first posted, either some information is missing, or more often, you must rule out other causes to narrow it down to a source, to believe that a question can be answered without any follow up would be naive, it also prevents people from posting random trolling posts and makes it easier for us to mass delete the spam that arrives.

Consider how frequently spammers show up here? We are able to handle them fairly quickly, but if the bots didn't even need to take 10 seconds to register an account we would have to track down each and every post they make, meaning the boards will be cluttered and unusable for a while after every wave of spam.

Every answer can be found here.

Surely we're all as anonymous as we want to be without all using the same handle. We share what information we wish to on our More Information link and although there will only be one jimmy_dog posting here at any one time, no-one will know who he or she is. That said, hopefully, the Mods have access to IP addresses so mis-users of the site can be banned effectively.
