Well, looking at the reviews and the lack of major changes in gameplay and
presentation, it looks like I will be sticking with (not out of protest or
fanboy reasons) ESPN 2k5 this season. I was hoping this years madden would
have been a major improvement, especially in presentation.

Anyone sticking with 2k5 too?

1) Anyone who says Madden has a "lack of major changes in gameplay" is
a DUMB ASS. If you read the reviews, you will see that it is
completely different to what Madden fans are used to.

2) I dislike Madden this year quite a bit but because it has changed so
much. It is a completely different game. In the past it has had a
striking similarity to NCAA 2006 but this year those 2 games are night
and day. I think NCAA 2006 is the greatest football game since Tecmo
Bowl. I compare my frustration with Madden 2006 to the frustration
people experienced in the 90's trying to stop Bo Jackson in Tecmo or
Emmit Smith in the first Madden. The learning curve is so steep that I
don't know if I can devote the time to this game and still enjoy myself.

Yes...out of protest and it doesn't hurt that Madden hasn't been improved
much.

I'd give it a try, but I cannot get into college football, in video
games or RL.

With your quote "the lack of major changes in gameplay and
presentation" you proved you are an ESPN fanboi. There are MANY changes
and the game if far deeper than it was before and it was still the
better of the two games last year (only slightly, but it was still the
winner). Now the running game has been improved, the passing game has
gone through a REVOLUTION and everything about the game is tighter and
feels like a much more polished product. This year's Madden is worth
every single penny of the $50 I paid for it.

Since when has innovation, creativity, and major improvements coincided
with having a monopoly? Please!

Madden is a dead dog this year, but, unfortunately, the only dog out
there. Reviews consistently state that it is not a step forward, in
fact, it may be a step back. I guess I'll get another year out of my
$20 for 2k5. What a deal!

I plan to stay with 2K5 as well, I still enjoy the game online. Stayed up
half the night to get 5 games in. I refuse to give my money to this take
over of the NFL, EA can keep their game.

Actually the worst part of the EA monopoly is the lock they put on
Arena football and NCAA with exclusives, and the exclusive with ESPN.
This is a total lockout for other competitors. And unless you do cadey
Blitz, it is a death nail for any competitors to Madden. By the time
the license is done, we will be on YET ANOTHER generation of consoles.

Well, as of now, the fact the XBox 360 has compatibility issues, I am
going to stick with just my XBox, and play football on it.

I hope that ESPN 2K5 will be one of those "top-selling titles" that will
be backward-compatible for the 360. I'd think that it would be.

I think EA is going to put pressure on Microsoft to make that it isn't
so.

I think EA is about the only distributer I really genuinely dislike.
Unfortunately, they bought up so many companies that by now it's almost
impossible to quit buying their games.

The lackluster "presentation" in Madden 06 is keeping me from it for one
more year.
