Realtek hd audio manager

subject manager is one of 2 drivers shown under device drivers (the other is Realtec HD audio manager) and my speakers are Boston Acoustics BA745. I've updated drivers for these drivers multiple times and double checked all the connections but can't get my Gateway FX6840 to play sound through them. A local computer repair place I deal with said he uninstalled the driver (which one?) and reinstalled it and sound came out fine. I brought it home - no sound. Any ideas. I'll get the computer guy back on Monday.

We don't know any more than you do as to what the tech did, so it is hard to answer. I can tell you, for those same speakers, I use Soundmax Integrated Digital Driver package, with no problem.

You might check in services.msc to see that Windows Audio service is set to automatic, and started.
