Lastly, for mobo's with dual or multiple pci express whats the benefit of getting two with x8 or one at x4.. Just need some help with that.

Thanks

To run multiple monitors you'd need a graphics card that can output to each . AMD's eyefinity system is probably your best option . If this is for gaming you will need a very powerful graphics system , as well as more powerful cpu to get playable frame rates .

A graphics card needs a pci-e x16 slot , but can reach almost all of its potential in an 8x slot . That means its OK to crossfire or SLI using an x8/x8 motherboard , but a mb with a x16 and a x4 slot can only run one graphics card effectively

My goal is just to have 4 monitors for developing purposes. I can careless about running a game across 4 monitors. I do however want to get the best bang for the buck, so crossfire / sli graphics card is the only way to go?

And the eyefinity can only do 3 monitors right?
