I just found out that there are core 2 duo CPU's out now. What is different about the Conroe and why have I not heard of Core 2 Duo before?

No. You are thinking of Core Duo.

Core 2 Duo is new and is coming out July 23rd for Desktop systems.

You mean to say Core Duo, This is only a Laptop revision"yonah" Core 2 Duo is "conroe" for desktop

This is how the New generation Core 2 DUO goes

"Memrom" ; Mobile computer Chip
"Conroe" ; Desktop computer Chip
"Woodcrest" ; Workstation and/or server Chip

The First line of Core 2 Duo come out June 23rd thats the "Woodcrest"
the second line that'l come out is Next month July 23rd the "Conroe" and last to come out is the "Memrom" If you still don't understand how the Core 2 Duo will come out. reply and ask for an explination again. because until june 23rd the "Core 2 Duo" core does'nt exist. only Core Duo for Mobile and one for Apple. but this is a PC line you are talking so we won't mension Apple in this
